Platen Gap home position flag
The PG HP flag is located on the PG gear on the right side of the
carriage. This gear connects with the PG gear assembly when the
carriage is in the home position and the Pump motor is active. The PG
origin sensor is a reflective sensor which detects when this flag is in
the PG origin position.
†
Carriage home position flag
The CR HP flag is located on the right side of the carriage. This flag
cuts off the signal in the CR origin sensor. The CR origin sensor is a
photo sensor which detects when the carriage is in the home position.
†
Cutter solenoid
The solenoid is attached to the carriage on the opposite side of the
home position (in the cutter housing) and it drives the cutter toward
the paper. The spring drives the cutter back away from the paper.
Also, the cutter solenoid is used to release the carriage lock.
In order to cut roll paper evenly, the following method is used:
1)
The cutter cuts from the left of center (when facing the printout) to the
left edge.
2)
The cutter cuts from several centimeters inside the right edge to the
right edge.
3)
The cutter cuts the remaining uncut portion, in the center, from the
right side to the left.
†
Cutter height guide
An important point is the cutter height guide which slides up and
down. Its function is to stop the cutter guide at the correct height,
which is determined at the factory. Due to this added feature, no
carriage cover height adjustment is necessary, unlike the EPSON
Stylus Pro 9000. Normally, you should not loosen or remove the
screw that secures the cutter height guide.
