Before You Begin

 

Before you begin the repair procedures,

• Note the unit’s external cable hookups (onsite).

• Start up any U.S. or Canadian Education customer’s 

Power Macintosh 53xx computer and check the Total 

Memory in the About Macintosh selection under the File 

menu. If there is more than 8 MB RAM installed, do not 

perform the RAM Upgrade procedure, step 23.

• Turn off the power.

• Disconnect the external and power cables (onsite).

• Put on a grounding wriststrap.
