Panda GateDefender Performa only blocks access to

inappropriate content, allowing users to browse the

rest of the information available in the Internet.

Panda GateDefender Performa includes a list of URL’s

divided into 59 categories. All the administrator needs

to do is select the categories to block.

The list of categories is automatically updated every hour

and a half and includes over 100,000 new entries a day.

In order to classify web pages, the Internet is constantly

searched for inappropriate content. These contents are

classified based on:

Text: Even text inserted in images is analyzed through

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to detect offensive

or illegal content, etc.

Images: Through special tools designed to recognize

faces, logos, nudity and other similar material.

Panda GateDefender Performa is managed remotely from

any computer with an Internet browser (compatible with

Internet Explorer v. 5.0 or higher and Netscape v.6.0 or

higher) through a simple and intuitive web console. As

well as automatic category-based filtering, the administrator

can define a white list of trusted domains, which can

always be accessed, and a blacklist of domains that

corporate network users can never visit.

Administrators can also select the action to take if a user

tries to access a web page with inappropriate content,

such as displaying a warning page to inform users that

the page has been filtered.

The administrator can create a VIP list containing the

users or groups of users that will be able to access the

Internet without any restrictions.

Panda GateDefender Performa allows the administrator to

access real-time information on the status of the web

filtering system. It also generates detailed reports, which

can be customized to display the information the

administrator needs: user, page requested etc…

What's more, graphic reports can be extracted to provide

a simple overview of the efficiency of the protection over

time and thereby, help users to evaluate the rapid return

on investment.

Panda GateDefender Performa incorporates hardware and

software diagnosis tools, as well as a self-repair

mechanism (WatchDog) to recover automatically from

service failures. By preventing saturation of network resources

and downtime, it increases productivity with minimum

administrator intervention, resulting in low cost of ownership.

Simply connect Panda GateDefender Performa to the

network and it will immediately start scanning all Internet

access requests. In addition, it incorporates native and

automatic load-balancing allowing the load to be shared

across multiple units.

GateDefender Performa allows status variables to be sent

through the Standard SNMP protocol or the syslog

application. This allows administrators to check the activity

of the protection modules and the general activity of all

the units across the network at the same time, and from

a single location.
