Checking JRE Version in Windows
1. Click on the Windows Start button at the bottom left of your screen
and click Control Panel. In the upper left corner of the screen, you
may see a panel named Control Panel with the option Switch to
Classic View or Switch to Category View. For easier viewing, opt for
Classic View.

2. Search the Control Panel files for a Java icon. When you locate Java,
double-click on it to launch the Java Control Panel. Click on the
General tab, and then click on the About button to check the current
Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

3. If the JRE is version 1.4.2_05 or greater, proceed with the MPC
Installation. If the Java icon does not exist in the Control Panel, or if

a. For future Java access and automatic launch, set your path to the
Java executable: on your desktop, right-click on the My
Computer icon and click Properties.
