 Application Networking Manager (ANM) software enables centralized configuration, 

operations, and monitoring of Cisco data center networking equipment and services. Cisco ANM 

provides this management capability for the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) devices, as 

well as operations management for the Cisco Content Services Switch (CSS), Cisco Content 

Switching Module (CSM), Cisco Content Switching Module with SSL (CSM-S), and Cisco ACE 

Global Site Selector (GSS). 

Table 1 lists the new features of Cisco ANM 2.0. 

New Features of Cisco Application Networking Manager 2.0 

Support for Cisco ACE 4710 Appliance running software release v3.1 

Operations support for Cisco ACE GSS v3.0(2), which enables securely delegated 
activation/suspension of DNS rules and VIP answers/answer groups. Support includes 
GSS Master (GSSM) discovery and on-demand retrieval and display of operational 
status and hit information for DNS rules and VIP answers/answer groups.

  Wizard-based provisioning workflow to set up SSL keys, certificates, and proxy, and 

perform certificate signing request (CSR) generation, including certificate/key 
association view across managed devices controlled by Cisco ANM role-based 
access control (RBAC). 

●

  Enhance certificate and key importation with appropriate error messaging when an 

imported certificate/key is invalid or a certificate is imported as a key and vice versa. 

●

  Automation of certificate and key synchronization across ACE running in high-

availability (HA pairs).  

●

  Also includes tracking and notification of SSL certificate expiry via threshold settings 

and alarm. 

Enhanced application control list (ACL) display with user-friendly view to manage ACLs 
or individual entries within ACLs, as well as providing an ACL-to-interface association 
view. 

Auto-synchronization from ACE to ANM for device configuration changes made “out of 
band” (other than through ANM).  

All user activity for actions taken in ANM (who did what, when, from where) is logged and 
available for review and export by authorized users. 

Expanded presentation of default values on configuration screens; visual/user interface 
enhancements for clarity and consistency. 

Cisco ANM 2.0 and associated minor release update kits will begin shipping on November 21, 

2008. Customers can order these new products through normal Cisco sales channels as of 

November 6, 2008.  

All Cisco ANM 1.2 customers are eligible for upgrade without charge to ANM 2.0; existing ANM 1.2 

licenses support upgrade to ANM 2.0 on the same server platform. Customers wishing to rehost 

their ANM platforms should contact Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC)/Global Licensing 

Operations as normal for rehosting licenses.
