When Ikegami began U.S. operations
at the end of December 1964 under
the name, Ikegami Electronics
Industries Inc. of New York, its mod-
est means consisted of $2,000 in capi-
tal and a small Manhattan sales office.
Since then, the company has become
a recognized leader in the color televi-
sion camera industry and a major
supplier of any broadcast equipment.
Today, Ikegami is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quali-
ty professional broadcast equipment. Ikegami offers a broad range of TV
cameras for ENG, EFP, Studio, HDTV, CCTV, and Medical Imaging.
Ikegami products have received various Emmy Awards for Engineering
Excellence. The company’s universal High Definition TV cameras have
been widely accepted by the broadcast industry as it continues the transi-
tion to the High Definition Television Format.

1940’s
Sep.10th in 1946, the first president Kosei Saito founded Ikegami Tsushinki
Seisakusho in Ohta-ku, Tokyo to manufacture transformers, choke coils and
power supply components. 
Feb. 21st, in 1948 Incorporated
1950’s
Company name changed to Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. in 1951.
Began manufacturing and selling TV studio related equipment
1960’s
Developed “TK-31T“ transistorized TV camera (1st model) to establish self as
full-fleded TV camera manufacturer.
Supplied CBS of the U.S.A. with first version of a broadcast quality portable
TV camera for the live coverage of launch of artical satellite Aurora 7 in 1962.
Model Name:Handy-Looky. 
American subsidiary established on December 28th, 1964 on Fifth Avenue,
New York City (Transferred to Maywood, New Jersey in Dec.1978).
1970’s
West Germany Representative Office established in Dusseldorf. (Organized
foreign subsidiary Dec. 1980.)
Developed “HL-33“ Portable Color Camera, had a lively time of it as ENG
(Electric-News Gathering) Camera.
American Broadcast Company (ABC) selected Ikegami’s innovative HK-312;
first delivery in the U.S.A. made to KABC.
Developed “HL-79A“ Portable Color Camera, top-of-the-line portable for pro-
gram production (in-studio and field use).
1980’s
Won Emmy Award (Engineering Section) for development of digital comput-
ers of automatic adjustment of color studio cameras (HK-312, HK-357A) in
1981.
Developed “ITC-730“ low cost hand-held camera.
Won Emmy Award for technological development of Electronic
Cinematography Camera (EC-35) following Oct. 1981 award.Promoted
Development of various HDTV system components and started supplying as
signal source for HDTV research to research centers of home electronics
manufacturers and government agencies.
Listed in first section of Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1984.
Developed 3D Television Camera System. Combined state-of-the-art video
technology and unique ergonomics-based know-how to yield high-quality
natural-looking 3-dimentional images unmatched by conventional 3D sys-
tems.
Celebrated the unprecedented sale of the 5000th HL-79 series ENG/EFP cam-
era.
1990’s
Won Emmy Award (Technology Development Section) for Skin-Tone Detail,
Control Edge Enhancement technology in 1994.
Developed Broadcasting Camera Recorder with digital disk recorders, in
1995.
Developed “HDK-790D/79D“ Full Digital Camera System, compatible with the
full spectrum of broadcasting formats, in readiness for digital broadcasting.
300 sets of Broadcasting Camera, Digital Codec played very active role in
Olympic Games. Digital Codec distributed image to Japan through underwa-
ter cable of KDD.
Developed “HK-388/388P, HK-388W/PW“ Ultra-wideband Studio/Field Digital
CCD camera System.
2000’s
Developed 0.18 micro meter rule next generation ASICs which were first
installed into the most advanced broadcast camera in the world. This was the
first product in the world installed in a broadcasting camera.
Developed the first HD RF Camera system in the market. The compact body
and RF Unit allows one-person shooting just like one-piece camera recorders.
The Active role of Ikegami Tsushinki’s Broadcasting Equipment and technolo-
gies such as the Super High-Vision Camera in the 2005 World Exposition,
Aichi, Japan.
HDK-series, top-of-the-line full digital HDTV Companion camera system, sales
to ABC and CBS for network production.
Introduction of the first real HDTV products for medical application, the HDL-
20D is a high performance and designed in ultra compact size. it is proud of
high employment nature in medical fields, such as an operation microscope
camera system.
The FOX Group has chosen Ikegami as a supplier of HDTV studio cameras for
their needs nationwide.
Major mobile television services provider F&F Productions used Ikegami’s
HDK-79EC cameras with advanced CMOS technology for its extensive cover-
age of the U.S. Open for CBS and the USA Network.
Toshiba and Ikegami Tsushinki agree to Capital Alliance Aimed to Strengthen
Collaboration in Broadcasting Systems Business in 2007.
