System software has been developed specifically for an embedded communications platform. It
uses a flash file system (instead of a hard disk) and a two-stage boot device to initialize the platform
and download the system software. The system software is preconfigured to allow immediate
connection to a local area network (LAN) or a wide area network (WAN) with Telnet and/or TFTP
