WAN link loss commands
After the physical port is set up, you can use these commands to enable or disable and view the
status of the PSTN lifeline port (for FXS models). See “Connecting to a PSTN network” on
page 3-27 for the procedures for setting up the physical installation of the PSTN cable to the
5100/6100 VDR.
For previously deployed 5100/6100 VDR units that are being upgraded, the WAN link loss
For previously deployed 5100/6100 VDR units that are being upgraded, the WAN link loss
feature must be disabled if the user does not want to use the feature. All changes must be saved to
the internal Flash memory and then the VDR unit must be reset.
Setting the PSTN lifeline
You can set up the software portion of the PSTN lifeline by issuing the set lifeline command.
Syntax: set lifeline <enable |disable>
Argument:
Syntax: set lifeline <enable |disable>
Argument:
enable |disable
disable (default) turns the feature “off ”; enable turns the feature “on”
Example:
In this example, the PSTN lifeline is enabled.
Viewing the PSTN lifeline status
You can view the status of the PSTN lifeline by issuing the show lifeline command.
Syntax: show lifeline

In this example, the current status of the lifeline is shown.
