CI-MM3 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Thank You for Purchasing the Micro Module
You have just purchased a revolutionary innovation from Phase
Technology.  The Micro-Module is the first “fits-anywhere” high
definition, custom installation speaker system ever developed.  Now
you can fit this high definition speaker anywhere you would position an
electrical outlet or wall switch.  The module is designed for distributed
sound to be used in non-traditional applications where larger more
conventional in-wall speakers will not fit.  Their application is only
limited to your imagination and creativity.  The versatile Mico-Module is
water resistant, making it ideal for close proximity placement near
showers, tubs, pools, and spas.  Use the Micro Module as a near field
monitor in offices, kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms any area where
a controlled volume is preferred and where high definition music
playback is desired.

Getting Started
Each Micro Module is complete speaker system.  This box contains one
Micro Module with 12 dB per octave crossover network, one white wall
plate/grille assembly and one ivory wall plate/grille assembly and color-
matched screws for installation.  You will need a narrow blade (3/32”)
standard screwdriver similar to a jewelers a screwdriver, wire strippers
and a medium standard screw driver.

Module Installation Procedure/with Subwoofer
The Micro-Module is designed to fit into both new construction and
retrofit type nylon dual gang electrical boxes or plaster rings (p-ring).
These are the standard blue and gray plastic electrical boxes found in
any hardware store or home center.  Each Micro-Module is designed to
be used with a subwoofer or as a stand one full range speaker.  If you
intend to use the Micro-Module with the passive subwoofer, you need
only to connect your speaker wire to the terminal maintaining proper
phase connection.  Insert the module into the electrical box and hold in
place as you align the cover plate.  The holes of the cover plate are
slotted to grip the mounting screws, insert the screws into the slots so
that approximately ½” protrudes through the back of the plate.  Align
the screws through the speaker mounting plate then insert the
speaker/plate into the electrical box (p-ring) and secure the screws.

Full Range Connection/Without Subwoofer
Each Micro-Module may be used as a stand-alone full range driver.  If
the Micro-Module is to be used without a subwoofer.  The crossover is
designed to work with the matching subwoofer and the normal cutoff is
300 Hz.  Follow the mounting instructions described above.

A Note Regarding System Impedance

The system consists of two Micro-Modules and a woofer with a  system
impedance of 8 ohms. In larger rooms, we recommend additional
Micro-Modules to distribute the sound throughout the room.  Wiring the
additional Micro Modules in parallel will result in a 4 ohm impedance.
Many modern speaker systems have nominal impedance of 4 ohms,
most modern receivers and amplifiers will drive a 4 ohms load with no
difficulty.  Contact your Phase Technology dealer for professional
advice on system installation.

Wiring Options

For a typical system, use the diagram below.  Use care to maintain
correct phase by connecting the positive (+) terminal & negative (-)
terminal on the amplifier to the corresponding (+) & (-) terminals on the
woofer and the Micro Modules.  When pre wiring new construction, new
recommend 4 conductors of 16 gauge or heavier wire be run from the
amplifier location to the woofer location.  At the time of final connection
the signal would travel from the amplifier through the woofer crossover,
then out to the Mico-Modules.  This will result in the least amount of
wire at the back of the amplifier resulting in a clean connection.
