Program Profiles
Each User in Ergodex Manger will have one or more Program
Profiles. Each Profile stores Macros that work with a specific
program on your computer. The Profile also stores the DX1 Key
assignments for its Macros. You will typically have one Program
Profile for each program that you use with the DX1 Input System.
Whenever you use a program, Ergodex Manager will load the Macro
Assignments from the corresponding Program Profile (if any).
Profiles for the active User are listed in the Program Profile Selection
Box on the Ergodex Manager Main Screen. To avoid confusion,
every Program Profile (under a particular User) must have a unique
Profile Name.
Each Program Profile is associated with only one program on
your computer. A program (a game, word processor, web browser,
etc.) is identified by both its path and filename. The path is the
directory location where the program resides on your computer (e.g.
“C:\Program Files\WordProcessor\”). The filename is the “.exe” file
for your program (e.g. “WordProcessor.exe”). Ergodex Manager
uses the path and the filename of your program to determine which
Program Profile to use. Fortunately, Ergodex Manager provides
some helpful tools to associate Profiles with the programs on your
computer.
Once you create a Program Profile and associate it with a specific
program, you cannot change this link. However, if you need to use
Macros from an existing Profile with a new program, you can easily
create a new Program Profile and import the Macros you want.
A Profile can only be made for programs that have a stable “.exe”
file on your computer. If you need to use the DX1 Input System with
“temporary” programs (like some Flash games), you will probably
need to use the Global Profile discussed below.
You can have more than one Profile for a program, but only one may
be active. Inactive Program Profiles are displayed in italics in the
Program Profile Selection Box. To activate a Profile, first select the
Profile in the Selection Box then select “Edit > Actions > Profiles >
Set Active” from the Ergodex Manager Menu.

The Global Profile
In addition to any Program Profiles, each User in Ergodex Manager
has one Global Profile. The Global Profile allows you to assign
Macros that will play in any program. Unlike Program Profiles, the
Global Profile is not associated with a particular “.exe” file.
If the program you are using does not have an associated Profile,
Ergodex Manager will use the Macro assignments (if any) from the
Global Profile. If the program you are using does have an associated
Profile, Ergodex Manager will use the Global Profile Macros for any
DX1 Keys without assignments in the Profile. Basically, Macro
Assignments made in the Global Profile will work unless they are
“overridden” in a Program Profile. Macros that are assigned to DX1
Keys in the Global Profile appear with a small globe icon to the left of
the Macro Name in the Key Assignment Table.
Using the Global Profile is optional. If you do not assign any Macros
under the Global Profile, Ergodex Manager will not use it.
