Mirage suggests setting the bass management cr
ossover of your A/V Receiver or pr
ocessor
to 120Hz. (Or as close to 120Hz as possible). If your A/V Receiver or pr
ocessor does not
have a variable cr
ossover
, please pr
oceed to the next step.
6.
Balance the sound output of the speakers by using the pink noise test patter
n generated
by your A/V Receiver or pr
ocessor
, adjusting the system so all speakers pr
oduce the same
output level.
7.
When setting your subwoofer level, be sur
e that the setting on your A/V Receiver or
pr
ocessor r
emains as close to flat as possible. Boosting or cutting the subwoofer output on
your A/V Receiver or pr
ocessor may pr
oduce poor sound quality
. Instead, use volume
contr
ol on the back of the NANOSUB for fine tuning.
You ar
e now r
eady to enjoy your Mirage NANOSA
T System.

Stand Mount Options
This series pr
ovides a large choice of installation options to integrate into any decor
The bottom of the NANOSA
T is designed to clip onto the optional MS-STB-1 stand. Please r

e detailed instructions.
W
all Mount Options
For wall mount installations, the NANOSA
T is equipped with a mounting bracket that can be
used to mount the speaker secur
ely to a vertical surface. The bracket is shipped alr
eady
attached to the speaker
.
Car
efully drive a #8 scr
ew into a stud in the wall, leaving appr
oximately 1/4 inch of the scr
ew
exposed, then mount the NANOSA
T like you would a pictur
e.  Note: Failur
e to attach the scr
ew
safely to a secur
e spot on the wall can r
esult is damage or injury
.  See Diagram 2
When mounting the speaker at a height of under six feet, orient the NANOSA
T in an upright
position. Slide the head of the scr
ew into the wide portion of the channel opening and slide
the NANOSA
T downwar
d until it sits in position. See Diagrams 2, 3
When mounting the speaker at a height of over six feet, orient the NANOSA
T in an upside
down position so the grill is facing the floor and use the bottom key-way channel.  Slide the
head of the scr
ew into the wide portion of the channel opening and slide the NANOSA
T
downwar
d until it sits in position.  See Diagrams 2, 3
The speaker can also be angled by slightly loosening the scr
ew on the bottom of the NANOSA
T
and swiveling the speaker into the desir
ed position.
SPEAKER PLA
CEMENT
The
MIRAGE
®
NANOSA
T System has been designed for high performance in a wide variety of
settings, but her
e ar
e a few helpful hints that will help to maximize performance and your
enjoyment.
Left and Right Channels
A general guideline for speaker placement is to set up the space between speaker and listener
at appr
oximately 1.5 times the distance between the speakers.  For example, if the speakers
wer
e ideally placed a minimum of 6 feet apart, the best seating position would be 9 feet away
.
Ideal height would position the speaker at appr
oximately ear level when the listener is in a
seated position.  This can be accomplished by using the r
ecommended optional MS-STB-1 stand.
Center Channel
A center channel can be expected to r
epr
oduce as much as 60% of a movie’
s soundtrack, most
of which is dialogue.  In or
der to maintain the ef
fect of voices emanating fr
om the actor’
s
mouth, the NANOSA
T being used as the center channel should be centrally located between
the left and right NANOSA
T and be placed above or below the television.
Surr
ound Channel
When using the NANOSA
T as a surr
ound speaker it should be positioned adjacent to and
slightly in fr
ont or behind the primary listening ar
ea.  A general guideline for the r
ecommended
height would be appr
oximately 6 feet.
Bookshelf/Entertainment Unit Placement
The small size and OMNIPOLAR
dispersion of the versatile NANOSA
T permits them to be easily
placed, among other places, in a bookshelf.  If this is your pr
eferr
ed placement, af
fix the
isolating pads pr
ovided to the bottom of the speaker to help isolate the speaker fr
om the shelf
and eliminate any transfer
ence of r
esonance.  T
o maximize the OMNIPOLAR
dispersion
potential, bring the speaker as close to the fr
ont of the cabinet as possible.
CONNECTIONS
The
Mirage
®
NANOSA
T System is equipped with high quality binding posts that permit the use
of banana plugs, spades, or a bar
e wir
e connection.
Connect the speaker wir
e fr
om the positive (RED +) terminal on the amp to the positive (RED+)
terminal on the speaker
.  Connect the negative (BLACK-) terminal on the amplifier to the
negative (BLACK-) terminal on the speaker
. See Diagram 1
NANOSUB
Placement
Start of
f by placing the subwoofer near a cor
ner in the fr
ont of the r
oom. This will pr
oduce
maximum bass output. By moving the subwoofer away fr
om the cor
ner you will eventually find
the position that yields maximum bass output without “boominess”. Note: it is important to
leave appr
oximately 4 inches (10cm) of clearance between the subwoofer and walls or r
oom
fur
nishings.
Connections
1.
If you ar
e using a digital r
eceiver
, connect the subwoofer fr
om the r
eceiver subwoofer pr
e-
amplifier output to the subwoofer RCA input, with a male to male RCA cable.
2.
If your r
eceiver does not have an RCA output, connect the speaker wir
e fr
om the fr
ont left
and right outputs to the corr
esponding left and right inputs on the subwoofer
, paying
particular attention to make sur
e that the polarities ar
e maintained.  Ensur
e Red (+) to Red
and Black (-) to Black connections ar
e maintained.
Power Mode
The NANOSUB is equipped with a master power switch which must be engaged prior to use. If
the subwoofer will not be in use for extended periods of time, simply select the master power
switch “of
f” position. Next select the position of the Power Mode switch that is located on the
back panel of the subwoofer
. Ther
e ar
e 3 possible modes that the subwoofer can be operated in:
1.
OFF- T
ur
ns Subwoofer Power OFF
. The Subwoofer will not operate in this mode. Use this
mode if the Subwoofer is inactive for short periods of time. If the subwoofer will not be in
use for extended periods of time, unplug the AC cor
d fr
om the wall r
eceptacle.
2.
Auto- In this mode the Subwoofer tur
ns ON in the pr
esence of an audio signal then tur
ns
OFF with a delay when the audio signal disappears. The indicator light on the fr
ont of the
subwoofer will specify whether the subwoofer is in standby mode (Glows Red) or in
Operational mode (Glows Gr
een). This is the r
ecommended mode for general operation.
3.
ON- the Subwoofer r
emains in the operational mode and will not shut of
f when the audio
signal disappears. This position is useful when watching television or satellite TV wher
e
low fr
equency information is not as r
obust as CD’
s or DVD’
s. The Indicator light will
permanently glow gr
een in this mode.
