Remove the screws which attach the sun
visor to the ceiling of your vehicle. Place
the visor on clean towel or cloth in a clean
area of your worksurface.
Using the wires provided, complete the audio, video and power connections in
your vehicle as shown in the diagram below.
The installation instructions describe the process of installing the monitor into the
sun visor, but they do not describe how to route the wires through your vehicle to
the visor location. For best results, consult with a professional installer on this issue.
Push on the visor with your fingers to make
sure there are no obstructions inside that
would interfere with the installation. After
you confirm that there are no internal
obstructions, take the paper template provide
in place, and mark the area to be cut.
After you confirm that there are no internal
obstructions, make a paper template in a
rectangular shape, exactly 6-5/8" x 4-3/4"
and tape it in the place where you want to
locate the monitor.
Since the monitor frame is wider than the
monitor housing, be sure to leave at least 1-
3/4" space on the visor surface to the right
and left of where the opening will be.
Trace the template accurately with a pencil
onto the surface of the visor and remove the
template.
Carefully peel back the upholstery material.
Set the adjustable blade to 1/2" depth, and
cut around the edges of the hole. Pull up
one corner of the visor padding, and use the
blade to cut underneath – remove a small
section at a time, using the "pull up and cut"
method for uniform depth.
Using sharp scissors, cut the points off the
flaps of upholstery material to 3/8" wide.
Route the cable from the place where it
attaches to the ceiling through the visor to
the cavity you have created for the monitor.
The neatest way to do this is to feed the
cable through the metal tube which runs
along the top of the visor interior and ends
hidden in the roof liner of the vehicle.
Then fold the four flaps into the cavity in the
headrest.
Using a sharp, adjustable-depth blade knife,
make a diagonal cut from one corner (of the
rectangular area you traced from the
template) to the opposite corner. Repeat,
cutting diagonally between the other two
corners.
Thread the cable through the hole in the
lower left corner of the monitor shroud (if
the monitor is in the shroud, first see the
section called "Removing the Monitor" and
follow the instructions for removal).
Insert the monitor shroud into the cavity in
the visor to test the fit and make any adjust-
ments necessary. When you are satisfied,
use hot glue to attach the monitor shroud
to the visor. Be sure to hold the monitor
firmly in place, applying gentle pressure,
until you are sure the hot glue has hardened.
Connect the AV/power cable from the
monitor to the cable you have already
installed in the visor.
Then place the monitor into the shroud and
gently press until you hear a "click."
