Setting up Internet,
email and MMS
With your phone you can access the Internet,
send and receive email, and send and receive
MMS messages. To do this you need to set up
Internet accounts.
Setting up accounts
automatically
A convenient way of setting up an account is
to ask your service provider to send you an
auto setup message. Contact your service
provider to find out if such a service is
available. You can also visit
www.sonyericsson.com/cn where you find
setup wizards that can configure accounts with
many of the major service providers.
You will find the auto setup messages in
Messaging > Messages > Inbox
. To start an
auto setup, select the message and follow the
instructions on the screen.
Setting up accounts
You access the Internet using an Internet
Service provider (ISP). You need to set up an
Internet account to do any of the following:
• Access the Internet.
• Send and receive email messages.
• Send and receive MMS messages.
• Set up and use a Virtual Private Network
(VPN).
There are several types of Internet accounts,
such as:
Data
 – uses a packet data connection, on a
GSM/GPRS network. You are charged for
the amount of data you download or send.
Dial up (CSD or HSCSD)
 – establishes a
circuit-switched data connection. You are
charged for the length of time you are
connected to the Internet.
Bluetooth PAN
 – uses a Bluetooth
Personal Area Network profile to connect
to a device (for example a computer) that
is connected to the Internet.
You can create new accounts automatically or
manually. The Internet account may already be
set up when you buy the phone.
