Cisco announces the availability of CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS) 3.2 for Windows and 

Solaris. Although this is a minor release, it introduces significant new features that enable key Cisco 

technologies and innovations, along with continued improvements in reliability, usability, and performance.  

CiscoWorks LMS provides network management tools for simplifying the configuration, performance monitoring, and 

troubleshooting of Cisco

®

 networking devices.  

CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 provides significant new features as a bundle and within each specific application area. A 

summary of new features provided in the LMS 3.2 update can be found in Table 1. For detailed information on the 

features of CiscoWorks LMS 3.2, please refer to the respective application data sheet and What’s New section of 

the user guides. 

CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 3.2 Bundle-Level Features  

Back up the required system configurations and data from the command-line interface (CLI) separately from the 
database 

ODBC view support for inventory, syslog, audit, end hosts, events and alerts, and network devices and 
configuration archives, allowing access to detailed information 

Support for Veritas cluster and geographic redundancy in this release. Allows active-standby operations and 
seamless migration when hardware and software failures occur.  

Usability improvements with pagination support, new portal engine, new portlets, and new reports for easier 
navigation and access to workflows and data 

Significant performance improvements in report generation, data collection, and syslog collection 

Support for multiple credentials when adding devices to LMS 

Devices unreachable over a period of time can now be detected and manually deleted from the servers 

New reporting capabilities with port and module configuration, end of sale and end of life for software images, 
creation of larger user-defined groups (around 200 groups), enhancements to reclaim unused ports, MAC 
detection reports  

Support for ISSU, CISF, PoE/ePoE, Auto Smartports, VRF, EEM, GOLD 

Support for baseline compliance checks, port and module level configuration, PoE, CISF  

Configuration, reporting, troubleshooting for VRFLite deployments, support for VRF IPSLAs through a new LMS 
product offering, Virtual Network Manager (VNM)  

Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) support now available also in DFM.
