3. Job Ticket: Job tickets are the next priority. If more than one job tickets exists
for a job, the most-recent ticket takes precedence over earlier job tickets. Any
page overrides specified in a job take precedence over general job-level settings.
4. PDL File: PDL printing instructions are assigned a lower priority because the print
instructions are selected prior to current job selections and/or job ticket selections.
Therefore, current job and job ticket selections typically represent the desired
user selections.
5. Queue Defaults: Queue defaults have the lowest priority in printing precedence.
These settings only take effect in the absence of specifications from any other
source.
Example 1: Your System Administrator may set up a number of different queues
through which you can submit jobs to print. Queue A may print every job two-sided.
Queue B may print every job with a landscape orientation on light yellow paper.
When you submit print jobs to these queues, these overrides established by the
System Administrator will supersede any selections you make in the printer driver.
Example 2: You submit a job to print that requires a two-sided, stapled output but
does not specify any paper requirements. You submit the job to a print queue that
is set up for printing covers on lilac-colored paper. The job ticket specification would
ensure the output is two-sided and stapled but since no paper requirements were
specified, the job would be printed on lilac paper - the default setting for that queue.
