Printers that have been defined in the Spooler can be grouped into a ‘pool’. Placing
individual printers into a pool is an effective way of increasing control of the
printing function to the Spooler.

For example, if your organization was using a number of high-speed printers as
well as a number of desktop printers, you could set up 2 printer pools.

The first pool could be named ‘Production’ and contain the high-speed printers.

In this way, jobs can be directed more simply, that is, all big jobs to the
‘Production’ pool and all small jobs to the ‘Desktop’ pool.

Once added, a printer pool is displayed in the Spooler control panel in the same
way that an individual printer is displayed, i.e. Printer/Pool Name, Status, Jobs,
