Bootstrap Using Auto Install
The Cisco IOS software includes a feature, AutoInstall that simplify or automate the configuration on
Cisco devices. AutoInstall allows a network manager to load configuration files onto new Cisco devices

Typically, a new router with auto-install feature sends a DHCP request to the DHCP Server for obtaining
TFTP server IP address and its own IP address. The device now obtains the configuration files from TFTP
server. Cisco Prime Infrastructure can act as a TFTP server here. After the router gets its configuration
files, it will load and boot up using it. After the device boots up, it connects to the Cisco Plug and Play
Gateway for obtaining further Day1 configuration and any image files, specified for it in the Cisco Plug
and Play Profile.
