How do I email a copy of the configuration on a Cisco Content Security Appliance?
Environment
Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA), Web Security Appliance (WSA), Security Management Appliance
(SMA), and all all versions of AsyncOS.
A backup configuration file can be created and sent via email using the CLI or GUI. Please see the
instructions below.
CLI
example.com> mailconfig.

Please enter the email address to which you want to send the configuration File. Separate multiple
addresses with commas.
[]> email_address@example.com

Do you want to include passwords? Please be aware that a configuration without passwords will fail
when reloaded with loadconfig. [N]> y

The configuration file has been sent to email_address@example.com Note: If the default option of
'No' is selected for Step 3, the configuration will not include the passwords. This will make it so the
file will NOT be able to be loaded back into the proxy via the loadconfig command.

GUI
Go to System Administration −> Configuration −> Configuration File.

Under Configuration File: Email File to, fill in the email address that you wish to send the
configuration file to.

Uncheck the Mask passwords in the Configuration Files box in order to create a back config that can
be loaded in via Load Configuration.
