Introduction
This document describes how to generate a troubleshoot file on a Sourcefire/FirePOWER
appliance. A troubleshoot file contains a collection of log messages, configuration data, and
command outputs. It is used in order to determine the status of a Sourcefire/FirePOWER system.
If a Cisco Support Engineer requests that you send a troubleshoot file from your
Sourcefire/FirePOWER appliance, you can use the instructions provided in this document.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
Sourcefire management appliances, such as Defense Center / FireSIGHT / FirePOWER
Management Center (FMC)
Sourcefire managed devices, such as the FirePOWER device models (Series-3), the 3D
device models (Series-2), and the virtual device / ASA FirePOWER module with out of box
management. 
Note: You can use the Defense Center or Management Center in order to generate a
troubleshoot file for the management appliance itself, or for a managed device. The
FirePOWER device (Series-3) models include the 7000 Series, 7100 Series, and 8000
Series managed devices. The Series-2 managed device models include 3D500, 3D1000,
3D2000, 3D2100, 3D2500, 3D3500, 3D4500, 3D6500, 3D9900, and ASA with FirePOWER
services.
