Highly Scalable Unified Server-Access Platform with
Multiple Connectivity Options
Organizations need to simplify their data center access architecture,
reduce operational complexity, increase scalability and flexibility, and
simplify management. The Cisco Nexus® 2300 fabric extender series
(Figure 1) is a highly scalable unified server-access platform that meets
all these demands. With a broad range of connectivity options, including
100 Mbps, 1, 10, and 40 Gigabit Ethernet, copper and fiber, the Cisco
Nexus 2300 platform offers excellent support for data centers migrating
to 10/40 Gigabit Ethernet. Suited for highly virtualized, automated,
and cloud environments, it has deep shared buffers that can absorb
bursts of traffic from the wide variety of workloads that are increasingly
common in today’s data centers.
The Cisco Nexus 2300 platform is unified-port capable, allowing
flexible deployment and LAN and SAN convergence in heterogeneous
architectures. Its compact 1RU form factor accommodates many current
server designs. The Cisco Nexus 2300 platform is built for nonstop
operation with redundant hot-swappable power supplies and hot-
swappable fan tray with redundant fans. It offers front-to-back cooling
for both hot-aisle and cold-aisle data center designs.
