The 

updateconfig

 command is used to configure update and upgrade settings, 

such as where the appliance looks for service updates and AsyncOS upgrades. The 
settings you configure using the 

updateconfig

 command are the same as you can 

define in the web interface. For more information on these settings, see

You can use the 

ping

 command to ensure that the appliance can contact the local 

server. You can also use the 

telnet

 CLI command to telnet to port 80 of the local 

server to ensure the local server is listening on that port. 

By default, each security service component periodically receives updates to its 
database tables from the IronPort update servers. However, you can manually 
update the database tables. 

Typically, you do not need to manually update to the database tables. In the event 
a manual update is required, you can modify default settings and configure an 
update using the options on the System Administration > Upgrade and Update 
Settings page.

To configure a manual update:

Navigate to the System Administration > Upgrade and Update Settings page.

Click Edit Update Settings.

The Edit Update Settings page appears.

Receive the update files from IronPort and install them on a local server.

Specify the location of the update files.

Initiate the update using the Update Now function key on the component page 
located on the Security Services tab. For example, Security Services > Web 
Reputation Filters page.

View a record of update activity in the updater log file. Subscribe to the updater 
log file on the System Administration > Log Subscriptions page.
