All internal and external devices on the SCSI-1 chain must 

have unique ID numbers. SCSI ID numbers 0 through 6 are 

available. Always terminate the last internal and the last 

external SCSI-1 device, as shown in the following graphic.

Terminate the 
last external 
SCSI device.

Terminate the 
last internal 
SCSI device.

If you connect only internal devices or only external devices, 
the computer will automatically terminate one end of the chain.
