Using the timers
Remote control only
Using the play/record timer
To check settings
While the unit is off, press [CLOCK/TIMER] twice. 
The settings for the timer you have set appear as follows:
Play timer 
Record timer
1. Play start time
1. Recording start time
2. Play fi nish time
2. Recording fi nish time
3. Play source
3. Recording source
4. Playback volume
While the unit is on, press [CLOCK/TIMER] to show the 
start and fi nish times. 
Each time you press the button:
   CLOCK  z
PLAY times 
 z
REC times

To enjoy a source after setting a timer
The volume level (for play timer) and source are stored 
and the timer will start in these preset conditions. However, 
the CD numbers do not get stored.

  After step 4, start playing the source.

 Reset the CD numbers if you have changed any, 
confi rm that a CD or cassette is inserted, then press [
^
to put the unit on standby.
Note
• 
If you turn the unit off and on again while a timer is 
functioning, the fi nish time setting will not be activated.
• 
If the unit is on, the timer will not function. The unit must 
be in the standby mode.
• 
If AUX is selected as the source, when the timer comes 
on, the system turns on and engages AUX as the 
source.
• 
If you want to playback or record from a connected unit, 
set the other unit’s timer to the same time. (See the 
other unit’s manual for details.)
Using the sleep timer
Use the sleep timer to turn off the unit after a certain 
number of minutes.
While playing something:
Press [SLEEP, -AUTO OFF] to select:
  SLEEP 30   SLEEP 60   SLEEP 90   SLEEP 120 
       
 SLEEP OFF 
To cancel
Press [SLEEP, -AUTO OFF] to select “SLEEP OFF”.
To confi rm the remaining time
Press [SLEEP, -AUTO OFF] once.
To change the time remaining
Press [SLEEP, -AUTO OFF] to show the remaining time, 
and then press [SLEEP, -AUTO OFF] to select the new 
time.
Note
• 
The sleep timer turns off when you start recording a CD.
• 
The play and sleep timer or the record and sleep timer 
can be used together.
• 
The sleep timer always has priority. Be sure not to 
overlap timer settings.
