prosecute enemy contacts.  Missions are more than just patrols.  They
can  also  be  modified  as  the  tactical  situation  changes  during  a
scenario.  There are four types of missions:  Transit, Strike, Area, and
Reconnaissance Missions. The Mission pull-down menu allows you to
add, move, and delete reference points. It also allows you to create
and edit missions. Since many missions require reference points,
placing reference points will be discussed first.
Reference  Points
Reference Points can be placed anywhere on the map.  Besides the
obvious use in marking a particular location, Reference Points play
an important role in mission planning.  Use the Add Reference
Point  selection  from  the  Mission  pull-down  menu  to  add  a
Reference Point to the map.  Once Add Reference Point is selected
the mouse cursor will change to a pointer finger.  Place the cursor
where you want the Reference point to appear and click once.
Reference Points may also be added using a hot key.  Consult the
Harpoon II  Command Card for information about the hot keys.
Selecting  a  Reference  Point
If the reference point is selected by clicking on it once it will
change into a small triangle with a dot inside.  The triangle is
used to designate Reference Points that have been selected.
More than one Reference Point can be selected at the same
time by using the drag-select method or by clicking on each
point individually.
Reference  Point  Naming
Reference Points are numbered in the order in which they are
placed on the map.  The name of the Reference Point will
appear with a data block name of “Ref X” where “X” is the
number of the Reference Point. Reference Points can  be
renamed by selecting the Reference Point and using a hot key.
It will bring up the Rename Reference Point dialog box. You can
enter a name up to four characters long, and it will rename the
last reference point you have selected. Consult the Harpoon
II Command Card for information about the hot keys.
Move  Reference  Point
Reference Points can also be moved to another location.
Select the Reference Point you want to move and then click
on the Move Reference Point selection from the Mission pull-
