Signal words

The signal words identify the hazard severity levels as follows:

Signal word

Meaning

DANGER

Indicates an extremely hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or serious injury.

WARNING

Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious injury.

CAUTION

Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
minor or moderate injury.

NOTICE

Indicates a hazardous situation not related to personal injury.

Within this document, the safety label typically includes additional information such as
the hazard type, a description of the damage that can be caused, and the steps that should
be taken to avoid the hazard.
