Installing the Print Server Hardware

Steps to Install the Hardware

1. Get the printer ready to attach to the network:

If the printer is already set up:

Switch off the printer.  Detach it from any computer.
Switch the printer on again, and proceed to step 2.

If the printer is not already set up:

Assemble its hardware only—paper tray, cartridges, power cord—using the instruc-
tions supplied with it.

Set aside the printer CD; do not install its software yet.  

Do not attach the printer to your computer.

Switch on the printer, and print a test page, if available, according to the instructions 
supplied with it.
