● When Public mode (Driving mode) is set
The ring tone does not sound when a voice call or 
videophone call arrives. Calls are logged as “Missed 
calls” in “Received calls”, and the “Missed call” 
desktop icon appears on the standby screen.
z A voice caller hears a message that you cannot 
answer the call because you are driving or in the 
place where you have to refrain from using a 
mobile phone, and then the call ends.
z A videophone caller sees the Public mode video 
message on his or her display, and then the call 
ends.
z When you receive mail, the ring tone does not 
sound and the “New mail” desktop icon appears on 
the standby screen.
Using Public Mode (Power OFF)
<Public mode (Power OFF)>
When Public mode (Power OFF) is set, a caller who 
made a call while the power is off hears a message 
that you cannot answer the call because you are in a 
place where you have to turn off the mobile phone (in 
a hospital, on an airplane, around a priority seat on a 
train, etc.), then the call ends.

When you receive a call after setting Public 
mode (Power OFF) and turning off the power, 
the caller hears the announcement “The person 
you are calling is currently in an area where use 
is prohibited. Please try again later.”

● When Public mode (Power OFF) is set
The setting is valid until “*25250” is dialed to release 
Public mode (Power OFF). The setting is not released 
by simply turning on the power.
The Public mode (Power OFF) announcement is 
played even when you are out of service area or 
where the reception is very poor.
z A voice caller hears a message that you cannot 
answer the call because you are in a place where 
you have to turn off the mobile phone, and then the 
call ends.
z A videophone caller sees the Public mode (Power 
OFF) video message on his or her display, and 
then the call ends.

The Public mode setting takes priority even when 
“Record message” is “ON”.

The Public mode setting takes priority when 
Manner mode is set at the same time.

If you make an emergency call using a voice call 
(110, 119 or 118) while Public mode is set, Public 
mode is released.

The following tones do not sound in Public mode:
• Ring tone for voice call/videophone
• Ring tone for mail and message
• Various alarm tones
• Wake-up tone
• Open-Close sound
• Charge sound
• Software tone for i-
