Sculpture is a software instrument based on a
unique form of synthesis called “component”
modeling. Component modeling uses sophisticated
algorithms to virtually re-create the way sound is
generated in a physical environment. Sculpture
generates sound by simulating a vibrating string
or bar. You can manipulate such variables as the
object’s material (glass, steel, nylon, and so on),
how and where it is vibrated (bowed, plucked,
blown), and the resonant chamber through which
it is sounding. The resulting sounds are very
distinctive and cannot be created by other
methods of synthesis.
