®

 Security Appliance Software Version 7.0 delivers several new security features for small to medium-sized business and enterprise 

networks. This release enables customers to:

Customers using Cisco PIX 515 and 515E Security Appliances can take advantage of these benefits by deploying Cisco PIX Security Appliance 

Software Version 7.0 and the appropriate feature licenses. Before installing this new release, the memory on Cisco PIX 515 and 515E Security 

Appliances must be upgraded. A memory upgrade is not required for Cisco PIX 525 and 535 Security Appliances. 

Customers with a Cisco SMARTnet

®

 support contract can obtain Cisco PIX Security Appliance Software Version 7.0 at no additional charge 

from the Cisco.com Software Center. Memory upgrades are not covered by Cisco SMARTnet contracts. 

To run Cisco PIX Security Appliance Software Version 7.0 or later on Cisco PIX 515 and 515E Security Appliances with a restricted platform 

license and 32 MB of memory, devices must be upgraded to a total of 64 MB memory. Devices with an unrestricted or failover license and 64 MB 

of memory must be upgraded to a total of 128 MB of memory. Cisco PIX 515 and 515E Security Appliances that are already operating at these 

higher memory levels do not need a memory upgrade. Table 1 lists memory upgrade kits that can be ordered to achieve these higher memory levels.
