Intended use
The TSR446 is a portable radio transmitter for PMR range (Private Mobile Radio) within the 70 cm band.
The portable radio transmitter can be operated on 8 channels. Its use is registration- and toll-free within the
EU and Switzerland. The portable radio transmitter is splashproof and therefore can be used outdoors. It is
operated via a built-in 3.7 V 830 mAh Li-polymer rechargeable battery.
Explanation of Symbols
The lightning symbol in a triangle is used to alert you about potential risks for personal injury,
such as electric shock.
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions in this operating manual which
absolutely have to be observed.
The “hand” symbol gives you special tips and notes on operation.
Licensing note
No structural changes may be made to the portable radio device, i.e. the antenna attached to the device must
be used. Nor may measures be taken to increase the transmission output. Otherwise the portable transmitter
loses its license and the general operating permit. In addition, technical modifi cations lead to the destruction
of electronic components. Balancing positions inside the portable transmitter may not be modifi ed under any
circumstances. The optimal equalisation has already been carried out by the manufacturer.
Safety Instructions
The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!

A use other than the one described above will damage this product. Moreover, it may lead
to hazards such as short circuits, fi re, electrical shocks, etc. The product as a whole may
not be opened, modifi ed or reconstructed!

In the event of any damage which is the result of failure to observe these operating in-
structions, the guarantee will expire! We do not assume liability for resulting damages!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by improper
use or the failure to observe the safety instructions. Your guarantee will become void in
any such case.

•  The portable radio transmitter is splashproof and can therefore be used outdoors.

•   The power supply unit may be used only indoors, never outdoors. Contact with moisture, for
example in bathrooms, must be avoided.

•   Electric appliances should be kept out of the reach of children; never leave children with the
portable radio transmitter unattended. Be especially careful if there are children around.

•    Never pour liquids over the portable radio transmitter or the power unit. Should any liquid
nevertheless penetrate the device, do not use the affected device anymore and contact a
specialist.

 •   Operation of the portable radio transmitter in vehicles and planes is prohibited. Sensitive elec-
tronics of a vehicle/plane may be affected by the portable radio transmitter operation. Besides,
a vehicle acts like a Faraday cage. It screens the radio waves generated by the portable radio
transmitter. It thus narrows the operating range of the radio transmitter signifi cantly. On the
other hand, radio radiation increases inside the vehicle.

 •   Never put the portable radio transmitter in the trip range of an airbag. If the airbag is triggered,
the transmitter may be hurled away and cause injuries.

 •   Never operate the portable radio transmitter in the vicinity of highly sensitive devices used e.g.
in hospitals. The portable radio transmitter can interfere with operation of such devices.

•   Persons with cardiac pacemakers, hearing aids, etc. should not operate the portable radio
transmitter .

 •   Always switch your portable radio transmitter off if relevant warnings forbid the use of radio
phones and devices.

•   The portable radio transmitter is intended for use in the domestic sector only.

 •  If questions arise which are not clarifi ed in these operating instructions, please contact
our technical support.
