Device Characteristics
The TSC2301 is a complete PDA analog interface circuit. It contains a
complete 12-bit A/D resistive touch screen converter, including drivers, the
control to measure touch pressure, a 4-by-4 matrix keyboard controller, and
8-bit D/A converter output for LCD contrast control. The TSC2301 interfaces
to the host controller through a standard SPI serial interface. The TSC2301
offers two battery measurement inputs capable of reading battery voltages up
to 6 volts, while operating with only a 2.7-V supply. It also has an on-chip
temperature sensor capable of reading 0.3
°
C resolution.
In addition to these features, the TSC2301 has full stereo audio playback and
record capabilities. Access to the DAC and ADC sections of the TSC2301 is
through an I
2
S interface.

TSC2301
The digital control interface is through either the USB bus or an external SPI
bus. The onboard microprocessor can be disabled, allowing the external SPI
bus to control the TSC2301.
Power supplies are derived from the USB bus, or may be provided to the kit
through external connectors from an external, user-supplied laboratory power
supply.
