The LDAP protocol allows you to search for information such as fax numbers and E-mail addresses from your 
server. When you use Fax, I-Fax or Scan to E-mail server features, you can use the LDAP search to find fax 
numbers or E-mail addresses.

In order to use this function, please download the necessary firmware from the “Downloads” page for your 
model on the Brother Solutions Center at http://solutions.brother.com/.

You can configure and change LDAP settings using a web browser. (For more information, see Changing the 
LDAP configuration using a web browser (DCP-8250DN, MFC-8910DW and MFC-8950DW(T): standard, 
MFC-8510DN, MFC-8520DN and MFC-8710DW: available as a download) uu page 107.)

After you configure LDAP settings, you can use the LDAP search to find fax numbers or E-mail addresses for 
the following features.



Fax sending
