To reverse direction of cuttershaft rotation, three left hand parts must be ordered: belt guard, outboard bearing plate, and an idler pulley arm. A front trash deflector is also required. Refer to the parts section of this manual for part numbers ...952. With the mower housing securely blocked up, remove cuttershaft and turn 180 degrees.953. Remove gearbox cuttershaft drive pulley and outboard bearing plate. Attach new mounting plate to opposite side of mower housing.954. Remove four gearbox bolts and rotate gearbox 180 deg. to new position.955. Install cuttershaft pulley, gearbox output pulley, idler arm pulley assembly, and belt on housing right side.956. Attach new belt guard.951. Remove skid plate, front cover plate, and front shield.952. Loosen powerband belt tensioner and remove powerband belt from gearbox sheave.953. Remove four gearbox bolts and remove gearbox.954. Change positions of gearbox vented plug and drain plug.955. Rotate gearbox 180 deg. and remount.956. Replace powerband belt and retension.957. Reattach skid plate, front cover plate, and front shield.95CUTTER KNIFE INSTALLATION96WING DRIVELINE TIMING96SETTING CUTTING HEIGHT97RollerScraper Assembly Instruction Sheet - Part No. 5057W981. Place the tractor and mower on a level surface, and completely lower the mower to the ground.982. Working with one head at a time, place a jack under the cutter housing and raise the head such that the roller is slightly elevated from the ground.983. Remove and discard the four carriage bolts that retain the two roller brackets. (See ASM-FL-0020.) These are the same bolts that would be removed to adjust the height.984. Attach the two scraper brackets as shown in ASM-FL-0021. Use four of the new ½ x 2 in. carriage bolts supplied with the kit since these are longer to accommodate the thickness of the brackets.985. Attach the scraper to the brackets as shown in Figure 2 using four ½ x 1-1/2 in. carriage bolts, washers, and nuts supplied with the kit.986. Repeat this process for each head.987. Verify that all bolts have been tightened.98ASSEMBLY SECTION93RHINO FLEX FLAIL FX17/FX21100OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS1001. Standard Equipment and Specifications101FX17 FX211012. The tractor must be equipped to operate at 540 rpm PTO speed and the drawbar length at 14”.1072. Using the parking jack, position the tongue clevis to the height of the tractor drawbar.1073. Board the tractor and start the engine. Back the tractor to the mower aligning the drawbar hitch hole with the mower tongue clevis. Turn off the tractor engine, place the tractor in park, and set the parking brake before dismounting.1074. To connect the mower, place two 1” flatwashers(1) positioned under top lip of tongue clevis and to the top of drawbar. Insert a 1”diameter grade 5 or 8 bolt(3) through clevis and drawbar and retain in position with a 1” locknut(4). Tighten t...1075. After connecting the mower you can adjust tongue clevis up or down to level out mower. Note: Frame must always be angled down 3 to 4 degrees so that wing mower head cut height can be properly set. There are four settings to choose from. First two ...1076. Securely attach the mower safety chain to the tractor drawbar or drawbar support frame.1077. Lower the jack until the tongue is completely supported by the drawbar. Remove jack from the tongue and place on storage bracket of the mower.1075.1 Connecting Mower Hydraulics1081. With the tractor shut down and secured in position, move the hydraulic remote valve lever back and forth several times or place the hydraulic lever in the float position to relieve all hydraulic pressure. When connecting the mower hydraulic lines ...1082. Connect mower hydraulic hose to the tractor remote port. Ensure the coupler locks in place making a good connection. Different tractor models receive hydraulic lines differently. Refer to the tractor Operator’s Manual for connecting and operatin...1083. Ensure hydraulic hoses will not contact or become entangled with mower drivelines, do not bind when turning, or become pinched or kinked when operating, raising, and lowering the mower.1086. SETTING MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT1081. The mower’s cutting height is set by positioning the roller assembly for each mower section. Each section must be set at the same height to ensure an even cut across the entire width of the mower.1092. Place the tractor and mower on a level surface and completely lower the mower to the ground.1093. Shut down the tractor, place the transmission in park, and set the parking brake before dismounting.1094. One section at a time, place lifting device (scissors jack or hydraulic jack) under center of cutter housing.1095. Remove hex nuts, washers and carriage bolts from bracket at each end of roller. Make certain that roller bracket is free to move once the fasteners are removed. A stuck roller could drop unexpectedly and cause injury.1096. Use lifting device to reposition cutter housing to desired cutting height. Align bracket holes with cutter housing, then reinstall hardware.1097. Lower cutter housing to the ground and remove lifting device.1098. Set cutting height according to procedures above for remaining two cutter sections. Make sure that all three rollers are set at the same height to ensure a even cut across the entire width of the mower.1097.
