Set FUNCTION to FM or AM.

Turn TUNING to tune in to the
desired station.

To turn off the radio
Set FUNCTION to TAPE (RADIO
OFF).

For FM, extend the headphones/
earphones cord, or adjust FM SENS
or FM MODE.
For AM, reorient the unit itself.

• If the broadcast becomes noisy when

a cassette with a metallic shell or
label is inserted, remove the cassette.

To limit the maximum
volume automatically
Set AVLS (Automatic Volume
Limiter System) to LIMIT. The
maximum volume is kept down to
protect your ears, even if you turn
the volume up. To cancel the AVLS
function, set AVLS to NORM.

To emphasize sound
Set the MEGA BASS switch to ON
to produce deep and powerful
sound.

• When you set AVLS to LIMIT:

– the MEGA BASS effect is reduced.
– turn down the volume if the bass-

boosted sound becomes distorted
or unstable.

”Getting Started

(see Fig. A-a)

Open the cassette holder and open
the battery compartment lid, and
insert two R6 (size AA) dry
batteries with correct polarity.

Be sure to insert each battery from
the 

} side as illustrated.

• For maximum performance we

recommend that you use Sony
alkaline batteries.

Para limitar
automáticamente el
volumen máximo
Ponga AVLS (sistema limitador
automático de volumen) en LIMIT.
El volumen máximo se mantendrá
bajo para proteger sus oídos sin,
incluso aunque aumente el
volumen. Para cancelar la función
del AVLS, ponga AVLS en NORM.

Para acentuar el sonido
Ponga el interruptor MEGA BASS
en ON para producir sonido
profundo y potente.

• Cuando ponga AVLS en LIMIT:

– el efecto de MEGA BASS se

reducirá.

– reduzca el volumen si el sonido

con graves reforzados se
distorsiona o se oye de forma
inestable.

Abra el portacassette la tapa del
compartimiento de las pilas, e
inserte dos pilas R6 (tamaño AA)
teniendo en cuenta su polaridad.

Cerciórese de insertar cada pila
desde el lado 

}, como se muestra

en la ilustración.

• Para obtener el máximo

rendimiento, se recomienda utilizar
una pila alcalina Sony.

Cuándo reemplazar las pilas
Cuando la lámpara BATT se
ilumine débilmente, reemplace las
pilas (consulte la Fig. A-b).
