Shooting (P, S, A, M)
No photo taken when remote control shutter-release button is pressed
:
• Replace battery in remote control (
0 167).
• Choose remote control mode (
0 53, 55).
• Flash is charging (
0 29).
• Time selected for Remote on duration has passed: reselect remote control mode (
0 131).
• Bright light is interfering with remote.
Smudges appear in photographs
: Clean front and rear lens elements. If problem persists, perform 
image sensor cleaning (

Date is not imprinted on photos
: Image quality set to NEF (RAW) or NEF+JPEG basic (

Menu item can not be selected
: Some options are not available in all modes.
Shutter-release disabled
:
• Non-CPU lens is attached: rotate camera mode dial to M (

• Mode dial rotated to S after shutter speed of “bulb” or “time” selected in mode M: choose
