Superimposing Onscreen Displays to Appear on an
External Monitor
By default, onscreen displays are shown on the viewfinder but you can
choose to superimpose onscreen displays on video output from the HDMI
OUT terminal or AV OUT terminal. Doing so will display the onscreen
displays on an external monitor. You must set this function separately for
HD and SD output. This setting will not affect your recordings.
In
mode, you need to select where the onscreen displays will be
output. Perform all the procedure from the beginning. In
 mode,
onscreen displays will automatically disappear from the viewfinder’s
screen when video is being output from one of the terminals, so steps 1
and 2 are not necessary. Start the procedure from step 3.
1 Open the [Character Display] submenu.
[¢ Video Setup] > [Character Display]
2 Select [Ext. Out] and then press the joystick.
3 Open the [HD Onscreen Disp.] or [SD Onscreen Disp.] submenu.
[¢ Video Setup] > [HD Onscreen Disp.] or [SD Onscreen Disp.]
4 Select [On] and then press the joystick.
• T appears on the upper right of the screen (when [£ LCD/VF Setup] > [Custom Display 2] >
[Output Display] is set to [On]).
NOTES
• Onscreen displays cannot appear simultaneously on the viewfinder and on an external monitor connected to
one of the video output terminals.
• During SD video output, onscreen displays will not appear on an external monitor if [¢ Video Setup] >
[Resize SD Output] is set to [Side Crop].
• If you set an assignable button to [Onscreen Display] (A 89), you can press the button to turn on and off the
superimposing of onscreen displays on video output from the camcorder’s terminals (simultaneously for HD
and SD video).
