Applicable modes: 
Using the Zoom
You can zoom-in to make people and objects appear closer or zoom-out to record 
landscapes in wide angle. To make subjects appear even closer (maximum of 46.9k), do 
not set the picture size to the highest setting for each aspect ratio (X/Y/W/
).
∫ Changing the zoom speed
You can operate the zoom at 2 speeds 
depending on the rotation angle of the zoom 
lever.
The zoom speed becomes slower when the 
rotation angle is small and the zoom speed 
becomes faster when the rotation angle is large.

∫ Control the zoom with the side lever
Using the side lever to control the zoom when taking pictures 
with the Viewfinder is useful for reducing shaking as the 
camera can be kept stable.
Using the side lever can also increase techniques used for 
taking pictures.
When controlling the zoom with the side lever, set [SIDE LEVER] 
in the [SETUP] menu to [ZOOM]
You can operate the zoom at 2 speeds. The zoom speed 
becomes slower when the sliding distance is small and the zoom 
speed becomes faster when the sliding distance is large.
You cannot use the zoom lever and the side lever 
simultaneously.
To make subjects appear closer use (Tele)
Slide the side lever towards Tele.
To make subjects appear further away use (Wide)
Slide the side lever towards Wide.
Using the Optical Zoom/Using the Extra Optical Zoom (EZ)/Using the 
Intelligent Zoom/Using the Digital Zoom
To make subjects appear closer use (Tele)
Rotate the zoom lever towards Tele.
To make subjects appear further away use (Wide)
Rotate the zoom lever towards Wide.
