The sound suddenly 
goes off.
The protection circuitry has been activated 
because of a short circuit, etc.
Check that the speaker impedance setting is correct.
Check that the speaker wires are not touching each 
other and then turn this unit back on.
The sleep timer has turned off this unit.
Turn on this unit, and play the source again.
The sound is muted.
Press MUTE or VOLUME +/– on the remote control 
to resume audio output.
Sound is heard from 
the speaker on one 
side only.
Incorrect cable connections.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists, 
the cables may be defective.
Incorrect settings in “SPEAKER 
LEVEL”.
Adjust the “SPEAKER LEVEL” settings.
Only the center 
speaker outputs 
substantial sound.
When playing a monaural source with a 
CINEMA DSP program, the source signal 
is directed to the center channel, and the 
front and surround speakers output effect 
sounds.
No sound is heard 
from the center 
speaker.
“CENTER” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“NONE”.
Set “CENTER” to “SML” or “LRG”.
One of the HiFi DSP programs (except for 
6ch Stereo) has been selected.
Try another sound field program.
No sound is heard 
from the surround 
speakers.
“SUR. LR” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“NONE”.
Set “SUR. LR” to “SML” or “LRG”.
This unit is in the “STRAIGHT” mode 
and a monaural source is being played 
back.
Press STRAIGHT (EFFECT) on the front panel so 
that “STRAIGHT” disappears from the front panel 
display.
No sound is heard 
from the surround 
back speaker.
“SUR. LR” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“NONE” and “SUR. B” is automatically 
set to “NONE”.
Set “SUR. LR” and “SUR. B” to “SML” or “LRG”.
“SUR. B” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“NONE”.
Set “SUR. B” to “SML” or “LRG”.
No sound is heard 
from the subwoofer.
“BASS OUT” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“FRNT” when a Dolby Digital or DTS 
signal is being played.
Set “BASS OUT” to “SWFR” or “BOTH”.
“BASS OUT” in “SET MENU” is set to 
“SWFR” or “FRNT” when a 2-channel 
source is being played.
Set “BASS OUT” to “BOTH”.
The source does not contain low-
frequency bass signals.
