Playing discs
Preparation
pTurn on the television and select the appropriate video input to suit 
the connections to this unit.
pTurn on this unit.

Press [THEATER] to switch the remote 
control to operate this unit.

Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select the 
DVD drive.
The main unit: Press [SELECTOR] to select the DVD drive.

[RAM] [-R] [-R]DL] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+R]DL] [+RW] 
[-RW‹VR›]
Play starts from the most recently recorded title.
[DVD-V] [DVD-A] [CD] [VCD]
Play starts from the beginning of the disc.

Adjust the volume with [
A B VOLUME].
When a menu screen appears on the television
[DVD-V] [DVD-A]
Press [
]to select the item and press [ENTER].
Some items can also be selected using the numbered buttons.
[VCD]
Press the numbered buttons to select the item.
e.g., 5: [0] 
➡ [5]
15: [1] 
➡ [5]
pTo return to the menu screen
[DVD-V] Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR] or [SUB MENU].
[DVD-A] Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].
[VCD]
Press [RETURN].
pThe playing method may differ from the one described above 
depending on disc types. Read the disc’s instructions carefully.

pIt is not possible to play continuously from one side of a double sided 
disc to the other. You will need to eject the disc and turn it over.
pDepending on the disc, it may take time for the menu screen, 
pictures, sound, etc. to start.
pDiscs continue to rotate while menus are displayed. Press [w]
when you have finished playback to protect the unit’s motor, your 
television screen and so on.

Simply select the recorded titles you want to play from the menu.

disc when scheduled recording starts.

[RAM] Press [] (PLAY) when you wish to start playing the disc 
while recording (
➡ page 13, “Chasing playback”).
Status messages appear on the television during operation to show 
the condition of the unit.
Press [STATUS]. 
The display changes each time you press the button.
If the recorded title is stretched vertically
If recorded to a DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW (DVD-Video 
format), +R, +R DL or +RW disc, 16:9 aspect images will record 
as 4:3 images.
pYou may be able to adjust it by changing the display mode on 
your television, please refer to the television’s operating 
instructions.
