described below.

Planning truck transports
Planning truck transport routes poses an entirely different
software challenge from the more common application of
passenger vehicle routing. map&guide professional has
supported transport route planning for more than 15 years.
It comes packed with features to help you with truck
transport planning, including:

Application areas
Truck routing: map&guide professional comes with
standard vehicle profiles for various truck types. That way, it
will prefer more truck-friendly routes from the start. You
can also strictly or generally eliminate a particular road, or
give preference to other roads by assigning each truck its
own vehicle profile. Your planned routes are specifically
tailored to each vehicle type.
Here are two examples: If you weight road types, you can
avoid low-emission zones entirely or route heavy-goods
vehicles on motorways as much as possible. You can even
preset break durations in the vehicle profile.
Integrated truck and hazardous goods data for Europe
(see p. 9): Attribute-based routing is essential for any
forwarding agent who wants to avoid unnecessary detours.
map&guide professional comes with up-to-date NAVTEQ
truck and hazardous goods attributes such as height
restrictions, total permitted weights and no-through roads.
With this information, you can choose the right route from
the start and avoid unnecessary delays and costs.

Individual road closures:
Use the Road Editor to change individual road closures on
the map, closing or opening individual roads (e. g. for depot
entrances that are blocked for other road users).
Realistic scheduling and vehicle assignment planning:
map&guide professional factors remaining travelling and
shift times into its schedule-orientated route calculations. Its
planning thus includes rest periods that are required by law
based on the driver's previous routes.
Search for car parks:
map&guide professional helps dispatchers find car parks
along the selected route that should coincide with the time
slots for calculated rest periods.

Planning additional or return freight
map&guide professional 2010 helps you find additional
loads along a planned route in order to bolster your bottom
line.
This functionality is provided by the Teleroute freight
exchange, a module newly integrated with map&guide.
With it, you can find freight offers on the exchange along a
route, on a return trip, or at chosen stop-off points along
the route, book them via Teleroute and then integrate them
into your standard map&guide itinerary.
map&guide professiona
calculates all the extra costs of
picking up the additional loads.
By comparing these costs with the revenue from the
transport order, you can easily see whether the order is
profitable. Access authorisation

exchange is required to book specific loads.
