there is a growing need to extend wireless
services outside the confines of carpeted areas
into large warehouse spaces and outdoors.
In these applications, it is often difficult to reach
the access point directly from the wired network,
due to ethernet cabling distance limitations.
So it is necessary to use alternate methods to
extend wireless coverage. With the advent of
802.11n, Wi-Fi now offers a more flexible and
more cost effective alternative to the fixed wire-
less, wi-max and proprietary Ethernet bridging
solutions that have been used in the past.

Mesh / Bridging Module
To extend wireless coverage between build-
ings and across difficult to reach uncarpeted
areas indoors and outdoors, the Trapeze Mesh /
Bridging module provides the following
services: point-to-point bridging, point-to-
multipoint bridging and wireless Mesh services.
These services may be implemented on indoor
and outdoor access points.

Bridging Applications
Using Wi-Fi for point-to-point and point-to-
multipoint bridging is a fast and convenient
way to interconnect wired networks in different
locations, without needing to lay one’s own
fiber or lease it from a Telco. The Trapeze solu-
tion can aggregate up to six bridge links on one
AP. The bridge links support 802.11n on the 5
GHz or 2.4 Ghz bands.
