QCard Programs In a Split-with-Layer
In the following examples, a Split is created first, then the Layer sound is added to
complete the Split-with-Layer. Note that you don’t have to create the Split first; you
can create a Layer first if you like, then add the Split sound. We’ll use the “Split first,
then add the Layer” approach as just one way of accomplishing these setups:
You can select a QCard Program to be the Layer sound of a Split-with-Layer:
Create the Split
1. Start off with the DG8 in Single mode, with an internal Keyboard Program as
the Primary.
2. Press a Bass Bank button to set up the Split; use the
▲
and
▼
arrows, if
necessary, to select the desired Bass Program.
Add the Layer
3. Press and hold the
LAYER/OFF
 button and press
CARD
; use the
▲
and
▼
arrows,
if necessary, to select the desired Card Program for the Layer sound.
Note that you can select a Card Program in Step 1 as the Primary Sound, and a
Keyboard Program as the Layer in Step 3 if you like.
You can select a QCard Program to be both sounds in the Layer range of a Split-with-
Layer:
Create the Split
1. Start off with the DG8 in Single mode, but this time with an external Card
Program as the Primary: press
CARD
and use the arrows to select the Card
Program.
2. Press a Bass Bank button to set up the Split; use the
▲
and
▼
arrows, if
necessary, to select the desired Bass Program for the lower range.
Add the Layer
3. Press and hold the
LAYER/OFF
 button and press
CARD
 again; use the
▲
and
arrows, if necessary, to select the desired Card Program.
Last, but not least, you can use the QCard for all three sounds in a Split-with-Layer:
Create the Split
1. Start off with the DG8 in Single mode with an external Card Program as the
Primary: press
CARD
and use the arrows to select the Card Program.
2. Press and hold
SPLIT/OFF
 then press
CARD
again; use the arrows to select the
Card Program that will be used for the
SPLIT
 sound.
Add the Layer
3. Press and hold the
LAYER/OFF
 button and press
CARD
 for the third time; use
the
▲
and
▼
arrows, if necessary, to select the desired Card Program.
Do
not   physically remove the card from the rear slot while any Card
Program is active. This holds true for Primary, Layer or Split.
If a Card Program is the Primary Sound, simply switch the Card
Program to an internal Keyboard Program. If a Card Program is the
Layer or Split Sound, simply turn off the Layer or Split.
