To access data via FTP:
You can access data in a shared folder on WD ShareSpace with a widely used FTP
client software program. An FTP client software program must be installed on the
computer you are using to access the device, and FTP service must be enabled on
the WD ShareSpace (see “To enable other network services:” on page 104 and “To
modify properties of the share:” on page 118 for details).

1. Open an FTP client software program.
2. Enter ftp://username@IP address as the host name
(e.g., ftp://admin@172.25.102.67) or just the device’s IP address depending on
the FTP client software program you are using.

3. Enter the WD ShareSpace user name and corresponding password.
4. Click Connect or OK.
You can now upload files to or download files from WD ShareSpace across the LAN.

The Workgroup icon on the Network tab allows you to set up the network storage
device as a workgroup or a domain member. The default setting is Workgroup.

If your network uses a domain (has a Windows 2003 Active Directory Service
(ADS)), you may wish to connect this device as a domain member. When configured
as a domain member, the device will ask the ADS to authenticate users. Therefore, as

ADS enables the administrator to manage users’ permissions in a central location
