4.4 USB Block Diagram

 

USB device (PoE)

Connects USB port (PC) to PoE 

device via USB cable

Internal USB device sends a signal to  

your PC, creating a “virtual COM port”  

(serial communications port).

Wait for PC to respond

USB port (PC)

The PC automatically detects the  

newly installed hardware. This function  

is called plug-and-play and is  

available with a USB connection.

The PC quickly identifies the connection  

as serial COM. Windows

®

 will automatically 

install your device on an available serial  

COM port. You can make changes via 

Device Manager.
