5. Operation

Reception message acceptance filter is shown. 

When the arbitration/control field (ID + IDE + RTR + DLC) of the message is completely shifted to the 

CAN controller reception shift register, scanning of message RAM for a match comparison with the valid 

message object will be started. 

The arbitration field and mask data (including MsgVal, UMask, NewDat and EoB) will be loaded from the 

message object in message RAM at this time, and the arbitration fields of the message object and shift 

register will be compared (including mask data). 

This operation will be repeated until a match is detected between the arbitration fields of the message object 

and shift register or until the final word of message RAM is reached. When a match is detected, scanning of 

message RAM will be stopped and CAN controller will perform different processes according to the type of 

the reception frame (data frame or remote frame).
