Administering the EX7750
System software
The EX7750 ships with system software preinstalled on the HDD (hard disk drive), so
you do not need to install system software to begin using the EX7750. A backup copy
of the system software also resides on a separate partition on the HDD. If you need to
reinstall the current version of system software in the future (for example, to restore the
EX7750 to its factory default configuration), you can do so either by restoring the
backup copy or by using the system software CDs included in the media pack. Both
methods achieve the same result. Restoring the backup copy of the system software
requires the Restore/Update Server Software CD and CD 3. Installing system software
from the system software CDs requires CD 1, CD 2, and CD 3.
This section describes how to restore a backup of the system software using the
Restore/Update Server Software CD (see
) and how to install system software
from the system software CDs (see
).
Keep in mind the following when installing system software:
Job Log
—The list of jobs in the Job Log and any jobs in the queues are deleted.
Fonts
—All fonts on the HDD are deleted when you install or restore system
software.
Configuration
—Make sure to print a Configuration page before installing any
system software (see
for instructions). The Setup configuration will be lost
when you install software.
Acrobat and Command WorkStation
––If Acrobat and Command WorkStation
software are installed on the HDD, they will be deleted when you install system
software. After installing system software, you must reinstall Acrobat and Command
WorkStation.
Other HDD content
––Custom simulations, custom outputs saved on the HDD,
calibration data, and variable data documents are deleted when you install system
software.
Compatibility
—When upgrading the system software, make sure the latest user
software is installed onto all computers that print to the EX7750. Using
incompatible versions of the system and user software may result in system
problems.
