4 Fax
This chapter contains information on the fax screens and the fax services available. 
In addition to the conventional Fax service, the machine offers you the Direct Fax, 
Internet Fax, and Server Fax services. 
Direct Fax allows you to transmit faxes directly from PC clients. Internet Fax allows you 
to send scanned images by e-mail over the Internet or intranet. Server Fax allows you 
to send and receive scanned data to and from a fax server over a network using the 
SMB, FTP, or SMTP protocol.

For more information on Direct Fax, refer to the online help provided for the print driver.
NOTE: Some models do not support all or some of the fax services mentioned above. 
NOTE: Some of the features described in this chapter are optional, and may not apply 
to your machine configuration.
NOTE: Internet Fax can be enabled when the Fax Kit and the Internet Fax Kit are 
installed on the machine.
NOTE: Server Fax can be enabled when the Server Fax Kit and the Network 
Scanning Kit are installed on the machine.
NOTE: Before using Internet Fax or Server Fax, you must connect the machine to a 
network and set up the network environment. For details, refer to the Internet Fax and 
Server Fax chapters in the System Administration Guide.
Country Code for the Fax Service
When using the Fax service, users in the following countries may be required to set the 
country code for the fax line.
