Remove and reinstall the toner or print cartridges.
Make sure the toner is distributed evenly within the toner or print cartridge:

Remove the toner or print cartridge.

Firmly shake the cartridge side-to-side and front-to-back several times to redistribute the toner.

Reinsert the toner or print cartridge.
Note: If print quality does not improve, replace the toner or print cartridge. For more information, see
“Replacing a toner cartridge” on page 217.
If the problem continues, the printer may need to be serviced. For more information, contact customer support.
Toner fog or background shading appears on the page

Replace the imaging kits.
Note: The printer has two types of imaging kits: a black
‑and‑color imaging kit, and a black imaging kit. The
black
‑and‑color imaging kit has cyan, magenta, yellow, and black developer units. The black imaging kit has a black
developer unit only.
