Chapter 3 Basic Operations — Switching on/off the projector

Off
The main power is switched off.
Red
Flashing
The power is switched off (in standby mode). [STANDBY MODE] is set to [NORMAL].
Projection will start when the power <v/b> button is pressed.

The projector may not operate when the temperature indicator <TEMP> is flashing.
Lit
The power is switched off (in standby mode). [STANDBY MODE] is set to [ECO].
Projection will start when the power <v/b> button is pressed.

The projector consumes power even in standby mode (the power indicator <ON (G)/STANDBY (R)> lights/flashes in red). Refer to “Power
consumption” (x page 133) for the power consumption.

The power indicator <ON (G)/STANDBY (R)> flashes in green if a remote control signal is received.

The power indicator <ON (G)/STANDBY (R)> flashes in green slowly when the projector is in AV mute mode.

1) Connect the power cord to the projector body.
2) Connect the power plug to an outlet.

3) Press the <ON> side of the <MAIN POWER> switch to turn on the power.

The power indicator <ON (G)/STANDBY (R)> lights/flashes in red, and the projector enters the standby mode.
4) Press the power <v/b> button.

The power indicator <ON (G)/STANDBY (R)> lights in green and the image is soon projected on the screen.

If the projector is switched on at around 0 °C (32 °F), a warm-up period of approximately five minutes may be necessary until an image is
displayed.
The temperature indicator <TEMP> lights during the warm-up period. When the warm-up is completed, the temperature indicator <TEMP>
turns off and the projection starts. Refer to “When an indicator lights up” (x page 119) for the indicator status.

If the operating environment temperature is low and warm-up takes more than five minutes, the projector will judge that a problem has
occurred and the power will automatically be set to standby mode. If this happens, increase the operating environment temperature to 0 °C
(32 °F) or higher, turn off the main power, and then turn on the power again.

If the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [ECO MANAGEMENT] → [STANDBY MODE] is set to [ECO], it may take more time before the
projector starts projecting after the power is turned on compared with when [NORMAL] is set.

When the power is turned or an input signal is switched, you may here a high-frequency driving sound. This is not a malfunction.

If the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [INITIAL STARTUP] is set to [LAST MEMORY] and the power is turned off by pressing the <OFF>
side of the <MAIN POWER> switch or by using the breaker directly while projecting during the last time of use, the power indicator <ON
(G)/STANDBY (R)> lights in green and projection starts after a while when the power is turned on by pressing the <ON> side of the <MAIN
POWER> switch with the power plug connected to the outlet, or with the breaker turned on.
