CONNECTING A 96 X 16 SYSTEM
1. Install each CM6800E-48X8 unit and connect appropriate devices to each unit. Note that the CM6800E-48X8 expansion unit must be
installed within three feet of the CM6800E-48X8 main unit.
NOTE: If you expand a 48 x 8 system to a 96 x 16 system, you must verify that each CM6800E-48X8 unit contains the same level of
switcher software. Refer to Upgrade CM6800 Switcher Software in the Appendix. If you have previously used the CM6800-MGR software
in a 48 x 8 configuration, you must uninstall and then reinstall the software before you can use it in a 96 x 16 configuration. Refer to the
CM6800-MGR Installation/Operation manual, or the CM6800-MGR online help for instructions.

Note that keyboards, Genex multiplexers, and other peripheral devices can only be connected to the main unit. The expansion unit can only
support cameras, PTZ receivers, monitors, local alarms, and local relays. Refer to the sample CM6800E 96 x 16 system shown in Figure 2.

2. Connect the CM6800E-48X8 expansion unit to the CM6800E-48X8 main unit.
In the following steps, use the cables and clips provided with the CM6800E-KIT.
a.
Attach the spring clips to the bay-to-bay video port on each
CM6800E-48X8 unit.

Use the 16-channel video ribbon cable to connect the bay-to-bay video port on
the CM6800E-48X8 expansion unit to the bay-to-bay video port on the
CM6800E-48X8 main unit. The “key” on the cable connector must be up. Use
the spring clips to hold the cable connector in place.

Use the reversed data cable to connect port 2 on the CM6800E-48X8

3. After completing system installation and power-up, select 96 x 16 as the System setting in programming mode. Refer to the Programming
section.
